DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Our client is currently looking for a DevOps / Platform Developer, with solid development skills and proven operations experience, to help evolve the next-generation container platform which powers the enterpriseís high-end music products and services.

You will:
- Contribute collaboratively on the evolution, maintenance of the container platform framework with Docker and Kubernetes
- Design and develop tooling to enhance teamís ability to efficiently develop, monitor, and operate
- Educate and support the greater team on designing, developing and operating applications on the platform
- Assist technical lead in capturing requirements and developing roadmap
- Research solutions to complex problems and drive proof-of-concepts
- Work with software quality assurance teams to facilitate automation and testing
- Develop and apply continuous development, integration, deployment paradigms


Must Have Skills:

- Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and IT
- High proficiency developing and operating scripts and applications running on Linux/BSD (bash, Python, Java/Spring, Go)
- Excellent knowledge of Amazon AWS services and management systems (CloudFormation, S3, EC2, VPC)
- Excellent knowledge of container or resource isolation technologies: Docker highly preferred, LXC, cgroups
- Experience developing on and/or administering container orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Marathon/Mesos, ECS, Swarm)
- Working knowledge of http/load-balancing concepts and applications (e.g. HAProxy, nginx)
- Working knowledge of networking principles (DNS, Routing, TCP)
- Working knowledge of source control and build systems tooling (e.g. Git, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory)
- Strong sense for developing with modern architecture principles (e.g. Infrastructure as Code, Immutable/Disposable/Replaceable Infrastructure, Automate-all-the-things)
- Experience working under agile project management practices and tools (e.g. Jira, Trello, etc.)


Nice to Have Skills:

- Knowledge of time-series databases concepts and applications (e.g. InfluxDB, Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf)
- Knowledge of clustering and service discovery concepts and applications (e.g. etcd, Zookeeper, Consul, DNS)
- Knowledge of software-defined networking concepts and applications (e.g. Calico, Flannel, Weave)
- Knowledge of messaging systems concepts and applications (e.g. RabbitMQ)
- Experience developing/operating applications with persistency layers (MySQL, Oracle, Couchbase, ElasticSearch)
